Of Mice and Men Book Analysis

The book of mice and men was written by John Steinbeck. It was published for the first time on November 23, 1937. It has been handled as fiction, novella and tragedy genres. The book is intensely covered by two main characters. The Protagonists of the novel are "George Milton and Lennie Small.". Their set in their world is big for them and they have a small dream for us, and they both live for this dream and never separate from each other. The Antagonist of Mice and Men is the "Curley" character known as oppressive and feared by the farm workers and his wife. Because of Curley, everyone lives in insecurity and fear. The setting of the events is a farm South of Soledad, California. This is an environment where agricultural work, livestock and homeless people live and work on the farm. The boss and his son live in a separate big house, while the employees have rooms outside. There is an outside barn for horses, and inside the staff, their rooms have straw beds. The pilot of this novel is about the friendship of two people, but this is not an ordinary friendship novel. The characters are quite opposite to each other but they are just as close to each other. Human, Friendship and Social relations are emphasized. In the book, we can quite observe the difficulties experienced by the workers, racial discrimination, class discrimination, negative reactions to hopes. The writer John Steinbeck tried to explain these over two characters.

George Milton's character is smart and protective of these two people. Everyone calls Lennie small "crazy". Lennie, on the other hand, is difficult to understand according to George but is a large and strong character. These friends have a dream, this dream they have dreams of buying their own farm and growing something in their gardens, feeding pigs and rabbits. Lennie is especially overly enthusiastic about the bunny dream and what she wants most. Another feature of Lennie is that he loves to caress. He loves to caress rats, causing them to break their necks, and George argues with Lennie. George complains to Lennie with words like "I would have been more comfortable if it wasn't for you." Lennie replies that "I go every time you want, I go to the George, I find a cave in the mountain and live there", but George is constantly giving this speech by saying "I want you with me."

but still, they do not leave. The ending of this novel quite tragically ends with the murder of Lennie, as well as the murder of her favourite friend George. George's Dreams are cut short and he loses his best friend. Internal conflict is that George promised Lennie's aunt. Aunt Clara looked after Lennie, but George was unable to do so because of what Lennie caused. External conflict is between Lennie and Curley. After the hard fight between the two on the farm and Curley inflicting violence on Lennie, George encourages Lennie to attack Curley with the words "get him, Lennie ..". At first, Lennie is very scared, but then Lennie suddenly hits Curley very hard and knocks him down. Curley is the loser in this match. The climax of this novel is the shooting of Lennie, George's closest friend and partner in the life they dream of. The style of the novel mice and men is descriptive and in the form of drama. Conversations take place in the form of dialogue. The author did not write everything clearly but used an imaginative and refreshing writing style by the readers. For this reason, this novel has enabled it to be played on theatre stages as a play and to be the subject of movies. Of mice and men in point of view is a third-person omniscient.
